call for entries in a digital magazine!

Interesting for you illustrators and artists out there? On coroflot.com (portfolios and jobs for creative work), I was contacted by the group VectorMagazine, who is looking for artwork submissions.

Check it out, many types of artworks can be submitted, and for free! I don't know anything about the magazine yet, but I submitted illustrations – what can I lose?

Good luck!
Astrid

PS: on the recent post about the contest on gizfolio.com, I won 2nd prize (gold portfolio membership for 1 year). Can you imagine!??? Yay =)

Eh... what? I thought one would like to become an illustrator not to give away your artwork for free but to get payed for it? Please, there is about one million places where you can show your illustrations, some are called blogs, and others might call themself "magazines" even though they are digital homepages, but really - I prefer to get payed for my job! ;-)

But what do I know? I'm not even an illustrator. hehe.

But, good luck with this, if it fits you, that is great!

Dear Hanna

Thank you for your comment. I don't know more about vectormagazine than they show on their website. It's up to you and anyone else who's interested to judge for themselves if they think it's a good thing. Of course I'm getting paid for my illustrations. In this case, if I do get published, the payment would be free advertising. Considering the cost of some illustration advertising, or portfolio sites on the market, free advertising can be even better than money sometimes.

This year for instance, I got published in a printed "real" book by Martin Dawber, called "the big book of fashion illustration". The artists didn't get paid either, but we got super publicity - it's published worldwide if I remember correctly.

In any case, let's hope this is a fair business too.
Thanks again
Astrid

Nice job! "Gold"... doesn't that mean "first place"? What a rip-off! ;)

Hey Christian

Thanks =) No worries, it was all in order. "Gold" stands for the classification of the membership, not of the prize. I.e. I won the silver price which was a gold portfolio membership. =)
